National Australia Bank (NAB), one of Australia's four biggest banks, announced on October 20 that it plans to cut up to 2,500 jobs, or about six percent of its workforce, in its 2027 financial year. Up to 1,500 roles are expected to go before the end of 2026. The bank will also rely much less on consultants and outside contractors.

NAB says the restructure will make the bank simpler and help it make decisions faster.
