Finland Investigates Forest Clearing for Google Data Centre

Police in Finland have opened a criminal investigation into land clearing at a planned Google data centre site. The case focuses on Muhos, a town in the north of the country. Investigators want to know whether Tuike Finland, a Finnish subsidiary of Google, broke the country's water law and harmed the environment.

According to reports, the company cut down trees and drained land near the site before the required environmental impact assessments were finished. On October 6, Finland's environmental regulator ordered the company to stop preparatory work at Muhos and at a second site. Police expect to give an update in December, and the investigation may continue into 2027. If the company is found guilty, it could face a corporate fine.

原句：Investigators want to know whether Tuike Finland broke the country's water law.

重点：whether 引导名词子句，意思是「是否……」，常放在 know、ask、decide、check 后面。口语中常用 if 代替，但后面接 or not、或放在句首时，用 whether 较自然。

套用：I want to know whether this course includes speaking practice.
我想知道这门课有没有包含口语练习。

句型 2：If + 主词 + is found + 形容词, 主词 + could face + 名词

原句：If the company is found guilty, it could face a corporate fine.

重点：be found + 形容词＝「被认定为……」；could face＝「可能面临……」，语气保守，是新闻报道尚未定案的事情时常见的说法。

套用：If the visa application is found incomplete, it could face a long delay.
如果签证申请被认定资料不全，可能会延迟很久。

句型 3：A comes only weeks after B（A 发生在 B 之后没多久）
